Therapeutic Modalities or Procedures
Therapeutic Modalities or Procedures In addition to the usual modalities (EMS and ultrasound), we offer:
Shockwave Therapy Using focused high energy acoustic (sound) waves to stimulate metabolic cell activity and the body’s intrinsic healing mechanism. An improvement in function is expected and pain relief is quick. The analgesic effect can last for several hours after treatment. Evidence based treatment for conditions like back pain, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff pain, deep lying trigger points, knee pain, elbow pain, connective tissue, muscles, and tendons pain. Benefits include short treatment time, deeper tissues being reached, non-invasive with no known significant adverse effects, precise and targeted application, results in fewer treatments, and an alternative to medication.

Laser Treatment Both cold low-level laser as well as Class IV therapy laser is available in this office for pain relief, neuralgia, edema, and faster healing. High powered laser reaches the deeper tissues and has been endorsed by the CDC as an effective alternative to opiods for pain by increasing the body’s beta endorphins and serotonin levels. Often relief is felt immediately after the first treatment. However, several sessions might be required for best results. A study showed results similar to PRP treatments. No side effects/noninvasive.

Dry Needling Thin needles are inserted into the muscle tissues with or without attached electrical stimulation to treat deeper areas that traditional EMS cannot reach resulting in muscle spasm relief. The needles remain in your muscles for a short period of time between 10-20 minutes. Dry needling applied to an affected muscle or trigger point decreases muscle tightness, increases blood flow and reduces pain. Patients often report immediate relief after treatment.

Deep Oscillation Therapy: Uses electrostatic energy to knead deep, damaged tissue that cannot be effectively reached by manual massage. Helps with lymphatic drainage and pain syndromes. Improves post operative healing and swelling. Reduces tissue inflammation and speeds healing. Treats cellulite and lipoedema.

Graston Technique A stainless steel instrument of different shapes and sizes for the improvement of soft tissue/skeletal muscle pain, adhesions/scarring, and persistent pain from acute and old injuries, as well as to resolve long standing trigger points (nodules) in muscles and joints. Use of this instrument is done with a specialized gentle form of scraping of the skin and underlying tissues to remove built up adhesions that limit motion and elicit pain patterns. Promotes circulation to the areas to reduce pain and inflammation. Excellent for fibromyalgia, TMJ, neck pain, low back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome for faster and better patient outcomes. Graston is used and recommended by many sports teams, used in leading hospitals and by many health care providers in industry and entertainment for many conditions.
Functional Neurology A system of improving brain input and function using different modalities (ex. vibration, light, eye movements, etc.) to improve the nervous system by increasing energy, focus, and wellbeing. Good for a variety of complaints by addressing root causes.
Kinesiotape Using elastic adhesive tape for some injuries to support and prevent further damage – used temporarily with adjunctive therapy, especially in sports injuries.
Tok Sen An ancient Thai massage that originated in northern Thailand. It involves the use of a special wooden hammer, or mallet, made from the wood of the tamarind tree. “Tok” means to hit, and it also references the sound from the mallet when it hits the wooden wedge. “Sen” refers to the body’s energy pathways or the energy lines recognized in traditional Thai medicine. In Tok Sen massage, the mallet and wedge stimulate energy points throughout the body. It combines manual pressure, passive stretching, and the deep vibration created by the wooden instruments. This combination restores well-being and transforms a person’s mind, body, and energy.
Active Isolated stretching is a specialized stretching technique with active assisted motion. This at times may also involve the use of machine stimulation (Assisted Passive EMS) and/or specialized stretch bands. This procedure improves the reflex response and balance of the small and large muscles, improving posture and sports performance by removing long-time or chronic pain patterns. Excellent for pain recurrence and for conditions like piriformis syndrome, shoulder issues, and sciatica. Helps to realign and restore normal ranges of motion while reducing neck, extremities, and back pain better than active exercise or static stretching.

NEMS Neuromuscular Electric Muscle Stimulation NMES trains your muscles in a way that traditional workouts alone cannot. It is a "best-kept secret" many elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts use to enhance their workouts and training programs. NMES treatments sends electronic pulses to your motor nerves in order to create muscle contractions through dynamic passive and active motion. Supercharge your sports performance to maximize the muscle fibers
impacted by your training and that means you can build more muscle, strength and explosiveness in less time than you would with your normal training regimen alone.
